70% of people with RA are female.
RA is auto-immune which means that the body attacks itself a the site of the joints, as opposed to the body trying to attack a germ that has gotten into a joint.
Off the 200 kinds of arthritis, RA is one of the most common. Up to 2% of the American population has RA.
People who smoke are more susceptible to developing RA.
Women typically develop RA from the late teens to age 60.
